King Ranch Inc. announced Friday that the 30th Annual Ranch Hand Breakfast will be held on November 20, 2021. The event was postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re excited to bring this event back to the community,” said Bob Cleek, Area Manager for Hospitality with King Ranch. “After the difficulties everyone has faced over the past year, it’s important to make sure these traditions continue.”
Tickets will be available later this fall. City of Kingsville festival and La Posada also scheduled.
The Ranch Hand Breakfast is always held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The event features an authentic, hearty cowboy breakfast cooked and served outdoors on the historic King Ranch. Team roping and old-time cow camp cooking demonstrations are a part of the activities, along with live music and storytelling.
The Ranch Hand Breakfast serves as a fundraiser for the annual La Posada de Kingsville lighted Christmas parade. Daniel Morales, chairman of the La Posada de Kingsville Committee, said that the annual event would be held on December 4, 2021.
“The La Posada parade is the event that marks the beginning of the Christmas season in Kingsville,” Morales said. “We’re happy to be able to hold it again this year, and we know the community will come out to support it.”
In 2019, the parade had more than 150 entries and drew thousands of onlookers to downtown Kingsville.
In partnership with both the Ranch Hand Breakfast and La Posada de Kingsville the Kingsville Visitors Center has developed a series of events for those weekends. This year’s events will include a Wine Walk Holiday Sip & Shop, a Ranch Hand Weekend Tree Lighting, a downtown festival and the Ranch Hand Weekend Country Concert. Both the wine walk and the concert will benefit Kleberg and Kenedy County Toys for Tots in order to provide gifts for around 1,800 children in our community.
In 2019, the Ranch Hand Weekend Country Concert raised $42,715 for Kingsville Independent School District Education Foundation. The success we saw with the concert would not have been possible without the strong foundation that the Ranch Hand Breakfast has built for decades,” said Kingsville Director of Tourism Services Janine Reyes. In 2020, with the COVID-19 Pandemic still a concern, Kingsville Visitors Center hosted the Kingsville Wine Walk Holiday Sip & Shop that brought in $29,182.81 for the Boys and Girls Club of Kingsville. “Combining these successful events will provide visitors with a continuity of activities to enjoy while in our beautiful community while also helping boost merchant sales and provide a valuable fundraising effort to create a meaningful impact for our community,” Reyes said.
About the Ranch Hand Breakfast
The Ranch Hand Breakfast is held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The breakfast is the only time of the year when visitors may drive their own vehicles onto the King Ranch. The event features an authentic, hearty cowboy breakfast cooked and served outdoors on the historic King Ranch. Team roping and old-time cow camp cooking demonstrations are a part of the activities, along with live music and storytelling. The event serves as a fundraiser for the annual La Posada de Kingsville.
About La Posada de Kingsville
La Posada de Kingsville has been a tradition in the town for 30 years. The main attractions include a La Posada procession through downtown, followed by the Parade of Lights. The parade features dozens of floats, each illuminated with several thousand lights as they make their way along the parade route. Local high school marching bands and other organizations typically also participate in the parade.
